Liberty trailed 10-7 midway through the third quarter before Bowling Green pulled away for a 23-13 win on Sept. 13. Evan Dickens ran for 96 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries while Ethan Vasko was 13-of-24 for 194 yards and a score to go with two interceptions. The Flames opened the season with a 28-7 win at home over FCS opponent Maine before losing at Jacksonville State (34-24) and Bowling Green.
