Charley Hull arrived in Ohio to play the Kroger Queen City Championship amid ongoing health issues that have been impacting her game. In a further demonstration of her enormous competitiveness, the Englishwoman not only put on a show at TPC River’s Bend, but she also went on to win the tournament.
It is her third victory on the LPGA Tour and first since 2022.

Hull entered the fourth round leading the event after posting scores of 68, 65 and 67 in the first three days. However, she was just one stroke ahead of world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul, and the final round almost proved that wasn’t enough.
Thitikul entered the 18th hole leading the event, one stroke ahead of Hull. However, the Thai four-putted for bogey, while the Englishwoman birdied the hole to take the title with a score of 20-under.
Hull had already come close to winning the Kroger Queen City Championship in 2023, when she lost in a playoff to Minjee Lee.
The 29-year-old is in the midst of an extraordinary run, with her two previous starts having resulted in runner-up finishes (AIG Women’s Open, Aramco Houston Championship). But it has also been a period of many health issues, including some that haven’t gone away.
“I’m actually a bit injured at the minute,” Hull told the reporters after her win, according to a video posted to YouTube by the LPGA. “I tore the ligament completely in half on my foot in a car park the week after the British Open, a golf event. I got told it could be up to nine weeks that I could be out …
“When I fell down, when I did my ankle, I got the MRI, and I’ve got some cysts growing (in her back) from where I tore the muscle, but I’ve got a very healthy spine. It’s just managing it and stuff. I think I’ve been slapped with every injury at the minute.”
Hull won her first LPGA Tour event in 2016, taking the Tour Championship title. Six years later, she won the Volunteers of America Classic. These titles are accompanied by four victories on the Ladies European Tour, most recently in the 2024 Aramco Team Series Riyadh.
The Englishwoman has also put in excellent performances at major championships despite not having won any. She currently has 10 top-10 finishes under her belt, including four second places.
