Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are set for their Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 NFL action. Unfortunately, they will have to face off against the Eagles without talented young wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Worthy, who suffered a dislocated shoulder after colliding with Travis Kelce in Week 1 against the Los Angeles Chargers, has been ruled out against Philadelphia.

Despite being ruled out for Week 2 action, Worthy has been working hard to get back on the field. Before the game against the Eagles, the Chiefs received a huge update regarding Worthy’s health status.

According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Worthy is “looking good” to play in Week 3 against the New York Giants on the road.

Needless to say, that is huge news for Kansas City. Worthy is expected to be one of Mahomes’ top targets throughout the 2025 season.

Last year as a rookie, Worthy broke onto the scene as a major weapon for the Chiefs. He played in all 17 regular season games, catching 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns. Those numbers were just a glimpse at the kind of impact he can have in the future.

When the injury to Worthy originally happened, there was concern about it ending his season. Those concerns have quickly been put to rest.

For the Chiefs to make a run back to the Super Bowl once again, they will need a healthy Worthy. His playmaking ability is crucial to the success of Mahomes and the Kansas City offense. Thankfully, it sounds like he isn’t too far away from getting back into game action.

Also, the Chiefs will get reinforcements in the middle of the season at the wide receiver position. Rashee Rice is currently serving a six-game suspension. When he gets back on the field, the Kansas City offense will become even more dangerous.

Even though the season got off to a disappointing start with a Week 1 loss to the Chargers, the Chiefs remain in a good position. If Worthy is indeed able to make a return after missing just one game, Kansas City will be in an even better spot.

Expect to hear more about Worthy’s Week 3 status in the near future, but for now it’s all good news for the Chiefs.
