Golden State Warriors’ Jimmy Butler Issues Concerning Message About Injury Status

Jimmy Butler and the Golden State Warriors find themselves in a difficult position following their Game 2 loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night.

After stealing Game 1, normally, the Warriors would have been pumped up. However, that win came at the cost of losing Stephen Curry to a hamstring injury that will keep him out for at least a week.

While there was optimism that Butler could help keep Golden State competitive even with Curry sidelined, Game 2 showed a rough reality. The Warriors were unable to match up with the Timberwolves and dropped the game by a final score of 117-93.

Not only is Curry out due to injury, Butler has also been dealing with some pain. He suffered an injury in Golden State’s first-round series against the Houston Rockets after taking a nasty fall. That injury is still bothering him now.

Following the Game 2 loss to Minnesota, Butler spoke out honestly with a short message about his injury status. He was asked if he’s still in pain from the injury that he suffered.

“Yeah, for sure, but believe it or not, dominoes, coffee, and kids make it all better,” Butler said.

Needless to say, that’s a concerning thing to hear for the Warriors. In order to stay in the series against the Timberwolves, Golden State badly needs Butler to step up with some big-time performances.

In the Warriors’ loss on Thursday, Butler did not have a notable performance. He scored 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting to go along with seven rebounds, four assists, and a steal. It was a solid game, but not what the Warriors need to pull off a win with Curry off the court.

Butler also spoke out after the game about the burden and high expectations he’s facing. That pressure has not changed anything about his preparation or the way he’s playing.

“I don’t have a burden or expectation. I play basketball the right way,” he said. “I will continue to play basketball the right way. If that time comes where your people that are saying whatever, supposed to score 40 or whatever the case may be. I’m capable of it. I can do it. But I love making sure my guys are comfortable. Passing the ball to them.”

Game 4 will be played on Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. ET. It will be interesting to see if Butler can lead Golden State to another victory or if Minnesota will take over a 2-1 series lead.
