An Italian greyhound owner expected their puppy to grow up into a graceful adult dog—but the transformation turned out to be different from what they ever imagined.
Sharing the before-and-after moment on TikTok, the pup’s toothy grin and pinned-back ears sent viewers into a fit of laughter.
The dog owner, who goes by @meekotheiggy on social media, posted a clip showing the dramatic change from a delicate silver puppy small enough to cradle in one hand, to a grown dog grinning with her teeth on show and ears stuck back behind her head. The video racked up over 6.6 million likes and 47.2 million views on TikTok.
“Aww she’s going to be so cute when she’s older,” reads the text overlaying the puppy footage.
Cut to the next clip, and viewers are met with a sight they didn’t expect: a comically wide grin and ears plastered flat against her head.
“Not sure what happened there,” the owner captioned the video.
The account features the lives of six Italian Greyhounds—Meeko, Winer, Summer, Elfi, Delphine, and Bridget.
Italian Greyhounds, according to the American Kennel Club, are an ancient breed known for their elegance, affection, and speed. Though petite in size, they’re bursting with character.
The unusual ear position seen in the video is a common expression in greyhounds and related breeds. According to Dogster, perked-up ears can indicate piqued interest.
The slender breed reach their full stature at around 8 months, but continue to develop up until the age of 2.5, according to the Italian Greyhound Club.
The comments section lit up with viewers sharing their laughter and surprise.
