
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Friday that they’re calling up a minor league catcher from their Triple-A affiliate to replace an injured Freddie Freeman.
Rather than calling up Dalton Rushing, the top position-player prospect in the organization, the Dodgers recalled 27-year-old catcher Hunter Feduccia.

A left-handed batter, Feduccia has 12 major league at-bats since his debut last year, and has collected four hits, two walks and one RBI in his brief career the Dodgers.

Freeman was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with an ankle injury. Last September, he suffered a severe ankle sprain that normally would have required a four-to-six-week stint on the injured list.
Freeman took a week off before Game 1 of the National League Division Series, then played the hero in Game 1 of the World Series with a walk-off grand slam against the New York Yankees.

Freeman slipped entering the shower on Sunday, re-aggravating the injury.
“Halfway through my (Sunday) morning coffee, I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll just shower to get ready for the day,'” he said. “And next thing you know, I’m down in the bathtub. It’s a great mental picture, if you guys want to think about it, big guy falling all over the place. … Freak accident, you can’t really make it up, crazy.
