Best Texas vs. Ohio State Player Props: Target TEs Max Klare, Jack Endries

Despite all the talent from Texas and Ohio State that is now in the NFL, there are plenty of stars left to choose from when placing your Texas vs. Ohio State player prop bets today.

Generally speaking, you can’t go wrong backing a superstar like Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith. Today, however, our favorite plays involve a couple of transfer tight ends, plus Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner.

Now, let’s get right into it!

Max Klare o3.5 Rec. (+110 at FD) — 1u

Both these teams got stud tight ends out of the transfer portal, but Ohio State got the more explosive of the two in former Purdue star Max Klare.

Klare finished 2024 with 51 catches for 685 yards (13.4 yards per catch) and 4 TDs for the Boilermakers. He had at least three catches in nine of 12 games (including six games with at least five receptions).

He’ll occupy a different place in the pecking order for the Buckeyes, but in redshirt freshman Julian Sayin’s debut, expect him to be targeted early and often.

We’re going (more than) a bit cliche here, but against good defenses like the one Sayin is facing, young quarterbacks often end up throwing a ton of passes to their backs and tight ends. This game should be no exception.

Remember, Texas prioritized limiting Jeremiah Smith when these teams met in last year’s CFP semifinal.

That resulted in not only a big night for WR Carnell Tate (7 catches for 87 yards), but also a ton of targets to RBs TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins (four catches combined) as well as tight ends Gee Scott Jr. (five catches for 30 yards) and Will Kacmarek (2 catches for 21 yards).

Kacmarek is still in Columbus, but he’s listed behind Klare on the depth chart, and this profiles as a massive opportunity for Klare to get at least four catches.

At plus-money, this is hard to resist. In fact, I also recommend a small play on Max Klare 5+ receptions at +198 at FanDuel.

Jack Endries o3.5 Rec. (+112 at FD) — 1u

We’re sticking with the same reasoning here.

Heisman Trophy favorite Arch Manning is more experienced than Sayin, but he’s also thrown than less than 100 career passes for the Horns. Given that, I expect him to lean on a talented transfer tight end of his own.

Endries, like Klare, was outstanding for a program that had few bright spots in 2024, catching 56 passes for 623 yards for a Cal team that went 6-7 (2-6 ACC).

Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has sent a tight end to the NFL Draft each of the last two years (Ja’Tavion Sanders in 2023 and Gunnar Helm in 2024). Obviously, that bodes well for Endries’ role with the Horns.

Without proven receivers like Tate and Smith on the outside commanding heavy attention, Endries could have a tougher time getting open than Klare today, but four receptions is still well within reach.

In 2024, Endries caught 45 passes over the final eight games of the season for Cal, with at least five catches in six of those contests.

Like Klare, Endries is incredibly enticing at plus-money to record at least 4 catches today, and he’s also a great bet at +198 (FD) to have at least 5 catches.

Quintrevion Wisner o2.5 Rec. (+112 at FD) — 1u

The Texas running back is yet another surehanded player who is primed to draw easy checkdown targets. And after recording six catches for 42 yards in the CFP semifinal matchup between these teams, this isn’t a difficult sell.

In many cases, running backs — especially gifted pass-catching backs like Wisner — get even more targets than tight ends in games with inexperienced quarterbacks taking as many “layups” as possible. The bad news for our card is this could mean fewer targets to Endries, but I expect there to be enough short passes to go around to both of these players.

It wouldn’t shock us if Wisner (44 catches for 311 yards in 2024) was a focal point of not only the Texas running game, but also the passing game, especially early in this matchup.
