The Minnesota Twins are expected to be active sellers at the trade deadline with pitchers Griffin Jax and Jhoan Duran seeming like the most likely trade pieces for Minnesota.
The Twins could also use starting pitcher Joe Ryan as trade bait. If they were to throw Ryan on the block, he would almost certainly garner a lot of attention from contending teams.
But, according to FanSided’s Robert Murray, the Twins haven’t discussed any trades involving Ryan to this point.

“Seemingly every contending team is searching for starting pitching, but the options are limited – especially so with the Atlanta Braves making it clear that Chris Sale has not and will not be discussed in trade talks this season,” Murray wrote. “The Minnesota Twins have yet to have conversations with other teams about right-hander Joe Ryan and at 47-49, have not had any conversations about selling, sources say.
“Rival teams have long been skeptical about the Twins potentially trading Ryan. After all, the 29-year-old has posted a 2.72 ERA and 121 strikeouts in 18 starts this season. He isn’t a free agent until 2028 and is a player that the Twins could potentially build their long-term rotation around.”
It wouldn’t make sense for the Twins to trade Ryan right now. He has multiple years of arbitration left on his contract and seems to only get stronger as the years go by.
The Twins, though they’ve struggled this season, aren’t a bad team. They’re likely going to put a contending roster together again in the next year or two and it would be very beneficial to still have Ryan on that roster.
As of now, it seems like the Twins are making the decision to hold onto Ryan. Things could change in the next few weeks, but only time will tell.
