Knicks’ Jalen Brunson Clears the Air on Pacers Rivalry

The first three games of the Eastern Conference Finals have been nothing short of amazing. Both the New York Knicks and Indiana Pacers have given fans excitement in all different forms, making for great competitiveness on the court.

The Pacers lead 2-1 in the series, but they could have easily been up 3-0. The team blew a 20-point lead in Game 3 against the Knicks, dropping a massive opportunity.

New York stormed back with a powerful fourth quarter push, earning a huge victory to get back into the series. This came despite star guard Jalen Brunson having an off night from the field, as he shot 6-for-18 on the night.

But after the game, Brunson was very complimentary of the Pacers despite the historic rivalry between the two teams.

“Both teams are going to continue to fight to the buzzer,” Brunson said. “Got a lot of respect for them over there. We just have to keep playing our style of basketball and keep grinding it out.”

New York earned the win behind a strong fourth-quarter outburst from star big Karl-Anthony Towns. Towns simply took over when his team needed him the most, dropping 20 points in the final frame to stun the Indiana fans.

The Knicks kept going to Towns down the stretch, and he didn’t disappoint. The Pacers had no answer for him, and he made them pay throughout the quarter.

“Teammates put me in great spots to succeed,” Towns said. “I just wanted to capitalize on the opportunity. All of us were just doing whatever it takes to put ourselves in position to get back in the game, and put ourselves in a position where at the end of the game we could find ourselves with a chance to win.”

As the series moves to Game 4, nobody knows what to expect. The games so far have been completely unpredictable, with massive leads disappearing along the way.

Indiana still holds the edge in the series, but the Knicks are one win away from reclaiming home-court advantage. New York may have a new sense of hope after the comeback win in Game 3, so the Pacers will need to find a way to counter.

Either way, Game 4 should be one for the ages. The next chapter in this rivalry is set to kick off on Tuesday, May 27, at 8 p.m. ET from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
