Brad Keselowski Accuses NASCAR of Favoritism in Flag Calls – ‘Makes Me Mad as Hell’

Brad Keselowski has fired back at NASCAR on X by quoting a fan’s post, suggesting favoritism in flag rulings. He revealed that he doesn’t mind when the yellow flags are not waved during incidents involving him or when he gets hit with “questionable” penalties. However, it makes him “mad as hell” when the rules are not applied similarly to other drivers.

The fan commented on a video on X that showed how Keselowski was nearly hit by another car on track after a lug nut flew off his rear tire at Darlington Raceway’s Turn 4. The incident caused his No. 6 RFK Racing Ford to spin out as other cars passed by in close proximity at high speed, reportedly compromising the safety of all the drivers.

The frustrated fan wrote:

“@NASCAR NEVER throws a yellow for @keselowski. Same thing a few years ago when he was leading the Bristol night race. Out in the lead, blown right front and not a peep.”

Keselowski reposted the comment on X to express his views, agreeing with the fan and highlighting that he has been witnessing the alleged favoritism over the last few years. He wrote:

“It doesn’t bother me when yellows don’t get thrown for me or I get penalties that are questionable” [sic]

“IT MAKES ME MAD AS HELL when it’s not the same for others, which has been the case too many times over the last few years.”

Several fans have responded to Keselowski’s post, and the comments highlight a common notion that might need to be addressed by NASCAR. Some reactions are stated below:

“We can always count on NASCAR’s inconsistency. It is as guaranteed as Fox‘s ability to completely miss the action because they want to be so zoomed in we can see the bugs on the windshield.”

An interesting theory:

“TY for confirming that. I thought it was odd that the flag wasn’t thrown. @dennyhamlin had an interesting take on actions detrimental yesterday. Basically @NASCAR didn’t initially throw the flag because it would hurt several teams that pitted but had to because of the debris.”

NASCAR’s Golden boys?

“Preach! I tweeted as soon as it happened Sunday and there was no yellow that had it been one of their golden boys, they wouldn’t have wasted any time throwing the yellow. Not the first time either.”

Another fan pointed out the yellow flag for a Carson Hocevar incident:

“The fact they threw one for Hocevar being like 50 feet from pit road and not Brad despite being on the racing groove is insane” [sic]

Considering Keselowski’s frustration, it remains to be seen if NASCAR will address his concerns and those shared by the fans.
