Analysts Overwhelmingly Predict Cowboys Will Draft Offensive Star at No 12

The Dallas Cowboys have a high first-round pick for the first time since they chose Micah Parsons with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Now, the team is at the same draft position in the first round and could land another franchise player at that spot.

Though the Cowboys can choose to trade up or down, the team has plenty of needs to fill. One big need is at the wide receiver position, as the team still needs a WR2 to line up next to superstar CeeDee Lamb.

Based on multiple analyst mock drafts, the Cowboys are slated to take Tetairoa McMillan from Arizona. The 6’5″ receiver has made waves in the college world the last two seasons.

In 2023, McMillan exploded for 1,402 yards, 10 touchdowns, and a 15.6 yards per catch average. McMillan coupled that with a 107.8 yards per game average as well.

McMillan’s most successful season was in 2024 when he secured 1,319 yards and eight touchdowns. His 1,319 yards led the Pac-12.

McMillan has the right kind of size and speed that would benefit Dak Prescott, as he can gun the ball downfield to the receiver. He also possesses an innate ability to grab contested balls, something that is similar in Lamb.

McMillan does have a drawback in his overall route running, but he would be learning from one of the best receivers in the game if the Cowboys land him at No. 12 overall.

The Cowboys desperately need another playmaker on the pass-catching side of things as there was a major drop-off in production in 2024 in terms of receiving yards. Naturally, Lamb led the way with 1,194 yards, but the next closest was Jalen Tolbert at 610.

Dallas needs more dynamic playmakers to not only get the attention off Lamb, but to ensure that they can spread the ball around more and throw off defenses. McMillan would fit this description with his size and hands.

There will be multiple options for the Cowboys to take at No. 12, assuming no other teams trade up to snag someone like McMillan. However, if he is sitting there at No. 12, it would make plenty of sense for the Cowboys to bring in the Arizona product.
