Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s Netflix debut featured an Elon Musk impersonation by Kyle Dunnigan.

Newsweek reached out to Dunnigan’s representative via email for comment.

Hinchcliffe, who hosts the Kill Tony podcast, made headlines last year while speaking at a rally at Madison Square Garden for President Donald Trump. During the event, he called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage,” which infuriated both Democratic politicians and celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Aubrey Plaza and Ricky Martin.

The 40-year-old’s Netflix deal includes three Kill Tony specials and one solo stand-up performance, all of which were filmed at Joe Rogan‘s Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas.

Who Plays Elon Musk on ‘Kill Tony’?

In the first special, Dunnigan wore all black to portray Musk—including black sunglasses and a black “Make America Great Again” hat, referring to the political slogan popularized by Trump. Musk is currently the head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), though he may soon be stepping down from his role.

“For the first time ever, Elon Musk is here,” Hinchcliffe said, before the camera cut to Dunnigan.

“Yeah, yeah. Comedy’s back, you know? The left, you know, they tried to make it illegal. So uncool.”

The show’s format follows the same one as the Kill Tony podcast, in which aspiring comics have one minute to impress Hinchcliffe and a panel of comedians. During this segment, Ari Matti “met” Musk.

Rogan, who was on the panel for the bit, reacted to Dunnigan and Matti’s X-rated interaction, where they discussed what body parts they like on a woman.

“Joe looked genuinely concerned,” @LangstonDev wrote in a comment on YouTube, which had over 700 likes.

“Joe looks scared his bosses won’t like,” @DoritoReeses added in a remark with 427 likes.

“Joe looks like he’s going to get deported if he laughs,” @williv said in a note with 307 likes.

Who Is Kyle Dunnigan?

Dunnigan is an actor and comedian who starred as Craig in Reno 911! and performed on Comedy Central’s Inside Amy Schumer.

According to his bio on his website, he’s also an “Emmy, Peabody and Writer’s Guild Award winning comedy writer” and regularly does impressions on The Howard Stern Show and Adam Carolla Podcast.

Most recently, he was in the 2024 film Unfrosted, which featured a star-studded cast including: Jerry Seinfeld, Hugh Grant, Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Max Greenfield, James Marsden, Amy Schumer and more.

He also appeared on the April 5 episode of Rogan’s Joe Rogan Experience podcast.

Dunnigan currently boasts an online presence of roughly 1.3 million followers across Instagram (856,000), TikTok (305,400) and X, formerly Twitter (97,000).

Is Kyle Dunnigan Married?

It’s unclear if Dunnigan is married or is currently in a relationship, but he previously dated comedians Amy Schumer and Sarah Silverman.

During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2020, the Connecticut native spoke out about his unique living situation—noting that he was living with Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, while they worked on a show together.

“It was a while ago and it was brief,” Dunnigan clarified about his romance with Schumer.

As for whether there was any awkwardness with Fischer, the comic said they “bro out” and “play chess.”

“All the food is really good and free,” Dunnigan joked. “She’s been very cool.”
