Houston is searching for its first national title after coming in second twice in 1983 and 1984, back during the Phi Slamma Jamma era. The team is 35-4 this season, setting a school record for wins. LJ Cryer leads the team in scoring at 15.6 points per contest.
Florida is seeking its third national championship after winning in 2006 and 2007. The 35-4 Gators are led in scoring by Walter Clayton Jr., who is putting up 18.5 points per game while adding 3.7 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 1.2 steals.
In the Final Four, Florida defeated Auburn 79-7,3 while Houston overcame a double-digit deficit to beat Duke 70-67.
