In a viral TikTok video, a cat owner from Pennsylvania shared her feline’s “subtle” way of asking for a bite of her food, and internet users across the platform can’t get over the hilarious footage.
The clip was shared in March under the username @jamesbaxter666, and it shows the poster’s cat, Ziggy, tilting her head sideways and “air chomping,” as her owner eats her breakfast in front of her.
“She’s so subtle about wanting my breakfast sandwich,” the poster writes in the clip. And the caption says: “Air chomps. Very subtle. Very demure.”
After internet users requested an update, the poster shared a video of Ziggy finally getting a little taste of the egg-and-sausage sandwich, shortly after publishing the first clip, but the cat didn’t seem to be the biggest fan.
Before feeding your cat any of your food, you must make sure that it won’t harm them. Veterinarian website Vets Now shared a list of human foods that are highly toxic to felines and can make them very ill.
These include anything that contains alcohol; chocolate; tea, coffee, and energy drinks; cheese and milk; fat trimmings; raw eggs, meat, and fish; grapes and their dried forms, raisins, sultanas, and currants; onions and garlic; and xylitol. You can read more about things your cat shouldn’t eat here.
On the other hand, foods that felines can eat, according to Sploot Vets, include cooked, unseasoned, and deboned chicken, turkey, beef, and fish; cooked eggs; and cooked, pureed pumpkin, broccoli, peas, carrot, spinach, and green beans.
However, you should keep in mind that cats are obligated carnivores, so their diet should mainly consist of meat and proteins. Experts say that it is always best to stick with commercial foods, specifically formulated for our feline’s needs.
Cats should eat at least two meals per day, although they do even better with more feedings in smaller portions. How much food your feline needs depends on their breed, age, and activity levels. You can learn more about feeding your cat here.
