Todd McShay Makes Bold Prediction For Browns At No. 2 Overall In NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is just weeks away, and we’re starting to get a clearer picture of what could happen at the top of the first round.

The Tennessee Titans own the top pick, and the consensus appears to be that the team will select Miami quarterback Cam Ward. The Titans recently cancelled private workouts with Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders, perhaps signaling their mind is made up.

NFL draft analyst Todd McShay is now reporting that the Cleveland Browns are likely to take two-way star Travis Hunter with the No. 2 pick.

Hunter is one of the draft’s most interesting prospects. The versatile athlete excelled in college for Colorado at both wide receiver and cornerback.

Travis Hunter

On offense in 2024, Hunter caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns. Hunter led the Big 12 conference in receptions and receiving touchdowns.

On defense, Hunter showed out as well, collecting 36 tackles, one tackle for loss, four interceptions, and 11 pass deflections. As a result of Hunter’s incredible campaign, the athlete won the Heisman Trophy.

It has been reported that those around the league believe Hunter can continue to play both sides of the ball in the NFL. This is what makes the Browns an appealing destination, as the team desperately needs help at receiver and corner.

Currently, the Browns have Cedric Tillman, Michael Woods II, and Jerry Jeudy slated to start at receiver. Tillman has shown flashes but is far from a sure thing, while Jeudy is a solid complimentary option.

Hunter, meanwhile, could immediately come in and be the team’s top target. Hunter is an exceptional route-runner and has the speed to blow past defenders.

At cornerback, the Browns have Martin Emerson Jr. and Denzel Ward slated to start on the boundary. Ward has played at an elite level, but Emerson was among the worst starting corners in the league in 2024, earning a 47.9 Pro Football Focus grade.

For what it’s worth, Browns general manager Andrew Berry has said he views Hunter primarily as a receiver at the next level. If Hunter lands in Cleveland, the team could primarily use him on offense while letting the dynamic athlete play on important defensive snaps.

Of course, the most important position in football, quarterback, is also a need for the Browns. With Ward likely being off the board when the Browns pick, the team could choose to pivot to Sanders instead.

Abdul Carter is another elite prospect who could go at the top of the draft, but the Browns may be a less likely destination now that Myles Garrett has been extended.
