7 Greatest Spears in WWE History

The Spear is one of the most recognized and popular finishing moves in all of professional wrestling.

That being said, it has begun to get the status of overused, with some Spears not living up to the move’s legacy.

So let’s take a look at the Spears that remind crowds why a full person running into you is absolutely devastating.

The Big Show

More often than not, a Spear is all about running as fast as you can into another person. However, when you’re around 500 pounds, this is not the case.

While this wasn’t The Big Show’s main finisher, he did utilize it to great effect. His massive frame was perfect for taking out smaller opponents, which is pretty much all of them. His best use of the move was when he hit CM Punk out of the air.

Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley is one of the most physically impressive WWE Superstars of all time. This combined with unbelievable athleticism makes him the prototypical user of the Spear.

After spending some time in TNA, Lashley returned to WWE and began using the Spear instead of the Dominator, and it was a great decision. It made his arsenal even more impressive and powerful than before.

Edge

Edge has received criticism over his Spear technique over the years, with many people saying that it’s more of a hug than a tackle. That being said, it cannot be denied that he has created countless iconic moments with the move.

The Undertaker through the Hell in a Cell wall. Mick Foley onto a flaming table. Jeff Hardy off of a ladder in the middle of the air. Edge didn’t just have some of the best Spears in WWE. He helped create some of the best moments in wrestling history.

Roman Reigns

It seems that every major WWE Champion has a set of moves that they always hit to win the match. Hulk Hogan had the big boot/power slam into the Atomic Leg Drop, John Cena would hit his “five moves of doom,” and Roman Reigns has the Superman Punch into The Spear.

That being said, it works. Reigns’ football background perfectly comes into play, creating a Spear that actually looks like it will finish you off.

Goldberg

Goldberg is the wrestler who made the Spear one of the most devastating moves in all of professional wrestling. While his Jackhammer is an impressive feat of strength, the Spear is what made Goldberg a monster.

It became one of the most dominant moves in the industry and is the reason why so many people use it to this day. Including the people ahead of him on this list.

Rhyno

Goldberg may have invented the Spear, but Rhyno took it and made it his own. Calling it The Gore, Rhyno truly seemed like a beast every time he hit the move.

Rhyno’s most well-known Gore was against Chris Jericho through the Titantron entrance. However, every single one literally seems like a rhinoceros plowing through a Jeep.

Bron Breakker

This ranking may prove controversial, but it’s hard to deny that Bron Breakker has the best Spear in wrestling today. He’s built like a beast, builds incredible speed and momentum, and always makes a massive impact.

At this point in wrestling, it’s easy for a move to lose its effect on the crowd, just look at the Super Kick. Breakker makes the Spear exciting again. And frankly, it’s never looked better.
