A comment Bernie Sanders made about Joe Rogan has taken off on social media.
The Vermont senator, who is an independent, took to X on Sunday to say he agreed with the podcast host’s stance on health care in the United States.
Sanders reposted a video from NowThisImpact of The Joe Rogan Experience. In the clip, which was from the March 21 episode with Chris Williamson, Rogan said health care “100 percent should be socially funded.”
Newsweek reached out to Rogan’s representative via email for comment.

“Joe Rogan is absolutely right about this,” Sanders—who appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience in 2019—shared with his 14.9 million X followers.
Rogan said: “I think that Medicare and Medicaid—having programs where people who are hurt can get an operation, and it’s not going to bankrupt them for the rest of their life, is another thing that I think society should be.”
He continued” “It should be a part of our agreement to take care of each other as a community, that we chip in money for what people would think of as socialist positions.”
At the time of publication, the post had racked up more than 724,000 views, 11,000 likes and over 540 comments.
In the replies, many expressed the same opinion.
“Clearly!!! No one should go bankrupt due to Healthcare. This only happens in the US and it’s time to end it,” X user @moneyvikings wrote.
“Let’s get behind @joerogan on Medicare for all,” former CDC medical officer Dr. Jeffrey Klausner said.
“I would vote for this ✊🏽,” @TheToneCappone chimed in.
Other, however, were apprehensive.
“It doesn’t work,” @lesliemack added, while @rudyfunkmeyer said: “Bernie validating Joe Rogan when he glitches and says something mildly liberal in between peddling conspiracy theories is why I can never fully back him. Joe Rogan is a joke, I don’t care that he made one good point once.”
Rogan—who is a highly influential podcaster—addressed his politics on The Joe Rogan Experience in January, clarifying that he’s neither Republican nor Democrat. Instead, he’s simply “an American.”
“I’m a human being, and there’s a lot of things that the Democrats believe that I believe. There’s a lot of things that they say that I say, that makes a lot of sense to me, and there’s a lot of things that the Republicans say [where] I say, that makes a lot of sense to me too,” the former Fear Factor host explained. “And the idea that I have to ignore things that make sense to me because it’s coming from the wrong team is just stupid.”
In January 2020, Rogan endorsed Sanders prior to him suspending his presidential campaign that April.
“I think I’ll probably vote for Bernie,” the UFC commentator said on an episode of his podcast at the time. “Him as a human being, when I was hanging out with him, I believe in him, I like him, I like him a lot.”
“What Bernie stands for is a guy—look, you could dig up dirt on every single human being that’s ever existed if you catch them in their worst moment and you magnify those moments and you cut out everything else and you only display those worst moments. That said, you can’t find very many with Bernie,” he added.
“He’s been insanely consistent his entire life. He’s basically been saying the same thing, been for the same thing his whole life. And that in and of itself is a very powerful structure to operate from.”
