Houston Open 2025: Payout of $9.5M Purse as Min Woo Lee Earns Lion’s Share

The PGA Tour saw a first-time winner claim the title at the Texas Children’s Houston Open as Min Woo Lee held off a stout field to claim the victory.

Lee shot a 3-under 67 to finish at 20-under 260 overall. That is the lowest in the 77-year history of the event.

At one point, the Australian held a five-shot lead, and it looked like he would run away with the trophy. However, the talented field kept taking advantage of a getable golf course. Then a costly bogey at the par-5 16th made things much more interesting.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler had a shot to steal the tournament but could not convert on the final two holes to get above 19-under.

The 26-year-old remained steady and made back-to-back pars on 17 and 18 to secure the one-shot win. In his first PGA Tour win, Lee won $1.71 million and 500 FedEx Cup points.

Scheffler finished tied for second alongside Gary Woodland, who continues to provide inspiration. They both will take home $845,500. Woodland tied Scheffler’s course record with an 8-under 62 on Sunday to post his best finish since returning from brain surgery 18 months ago.

Sami Valimaki also posted a 62 on Sunday to claim a solo fourth-place victory. He won $465,500. It was his first Top 10 finish of the season.

Rory McIlroy made his first start at this event in 11 years and was T5. He had a few chances to close the gap, but a par-bogey finish saw him finish at 15-under. The Northern Irishman earned $337,844 this week in Houston.
