Pete Davidson Reacts on Live TV to Kim Kardashian Romance

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

Pete Davidson didn’t bother to hide his discomfort when the topic of his past relationship with Kim Kardashian came up during an interview on live TV.

On the Wednesday, March 26 episode of Everybody’s Live with John Mulaney, the King of Staten Island actor, 31, grew visibly uneasy after he was asked to explain his popularity with women.

“I’ve been studying you,” fellow comedic guest Luenell told Davidson on the Netflix show. “To me, you’re just an average guy… I want to know the mystique.”

“Now, you’ve had Kim K …” Luenell, 66, began, referencing Kim Kardashian — only for Davidson to quickly cut her off. “Oh god,” he groaned, closing his eyes and covering his face with his hand.

Davidson was still on Saturday Night Live in October 2021 when he began dating Kardashian, 44, who was fresh off hosting the show — and her split from Kanye West. The pair were together for nine months before breaking up in August 2022.

Undeterred, Luenell continued, teasing Davidson about his dating history with “several other people.”

Davidson, previously engaged to Ariana Grande, has also been linked to Kate Beckinsale, Margaret Qualley, Kaia Gerber, Phoebe Dynevor, and Emily Ratajkowski.

“You’ve got this little supermodel right now,” Luenell joked, referring to Davidson’s latest flirtation with Elsie Hewett, with whom he was recently spotted making out on a Florida beach.

Luenell then quipped: “And what I think, for the research and for women across America, I think that you should take me out.”

Davidson’s response? “If that’s what it takes to stop this, yeah, yes,” he laughed.

While he was a good sport, Davidson has previously expressed his frustration about the public’s fixation on his love life. In the December 2024 issue of W magazine, he shared, “I just want to be known for doing good work,” adding, “I want to be out there only when it’s movie, stand-up, charity, or business ventures. That’s when I want to be seen. I don’t want to be this f***ing loser who just dates people. That’s not who I am.”
