Two parents were caught off guard by what their baby did during a family dinner.
Brittany Dippold Spada and her husband Matthew Spada were at Don Jose in New Jersey with their three children, Wesley, Jax and Lawson, when their two-month-old did something remarkable.
In a clip posted by Brittany on TikTok (@brittdipp), Wesley sits in his father’s lap while playfully moving his fingers like running legs, landing them gently on his son’s chest.

To the family’s surprise, Wesley attempts to move his tiny fingers in the same way. Brittany’s text overlay on the video reads: “A cute moment turns into your baby potentially being a genius.”
The 33-year-old told Newsweek that she was shocked by what her baby was trying to do. “You can probably hear my gasp in the video,” she said. “I quickly realized that he was genuinely trying to imitate him.”
According to Brittany, her son’s ability to mimic actions isn’t just a one-time occurrence.
“We’ve noticed that our baby is exceptionally intelligent and highly aware from a very young age,” she said. “Since we’re experienced parents with three children, we’re quite familiar with this stage of development. When we observed him attempting to move his hand in that manner, it caught us, and our entire family, off guard.”
She also said that Wesley doesn’t just mimic hand movements – he tries to imitate words, facial expressions, and other body movements as well. “While I understand that every parent says this, I genuinely believe it’s true,” she added.
Since it was posted on March 22, Brittany’s clip has gone viral on TikTok, amassing 4.1 million views.
The clip garnered a mixed reaction from commenters, some of whom were “astounded by his motor skills and awareness at two months old,” Brittany told Newsweek.
One user wrote: “This is impressive! Separating his fingers intentionally like that?! Go little man!”
“Poor guy is trying so hard to figure out how to make those fingies [sic] work!” added another.
A third commenter said: “Baby brains are incredible. They def know more than their motor skills allow them to demonstrate.”
Brittany explained that many people agreed with her that Wesley is a little genius in the making.
“On the other hand, there are those who believe that every parent thinks their child is a genius and doesn’t realize it, but they probably don’t have children themselves.”
