
In the West Region, No. 2 seed St. John’s and No. 10 seed Arkansas face off on Saturday. This game goes beyond just being a second-round game though as it pits two college coaching legends against each other, with Arkansas’ John Calipari against St. John’s Rick Pitino.

Arkansas upset No. 7 seed Kansas 79-72 in the first round, with Jonas Aidoo scoring a team-high 22 points on 10-for-19 shooting to help send the Razorbacks through to the second round in Calipari’s first year on the sidelines.
St. John’s had no issue in its first-round matchup against Omaha, winning 83-53. The dominant win was fueled by 22 points from RJ Luis Jr.
Calipari and Pitino are long-time rivals who both coached for years in the state of Kentucky, but times change. This will be the first time these two have met at their new schools and the fifth time they’ve met in the NCAA Tournament. They first met in 1996 when Calipari was coaching UMass.
