Two teams with different priorities face off in Boston as the playoff-bound Boston Celtics (49-19) play host to the rebuilding Brooklyn Nets (23-45) at TD Garden on Tuesday night.

Currently sitting the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Celtics have won seven out of their last eight games, but haven’t been able to close the gap against the red-hot Cleveland Cavaliers. In Boston’s last game, they won a close one in Brooklyn by a score of 115-113, with Kristaps Porzingis leading the team in scoring (24 points). Jayson Tatum added 20 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, with Payton Pritchard coming off the bench to add 22 points, including shooting 5-for-8 from the 3-point line.
Brooklyn has played a slow, plodding pace, that has resulted in them being 11th in the NBA in points allowed per game (111.7), but is just 23rd in defensive rating (115.8). They will enter the game with a hint of optimism, as their last game was a 122-114 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Sharpshooter Cameron Johnson led the Nets with 28 points and seven assists, making all 10 free throws. Keon Johnson added 22, making four 3-pointers and as a team, Brooklyn went 17-for-35 from beyond the 3-point line.
This will be the fourth and final matchup between the Celtics and Nets, with Boston winning each of the first three.
