The 2025 NFL draft is just over a month away and Colorado Buffaloes star quarterback Shedeur Sanders will be one of the most talked about names in the country leading up to it.

At one point, Sanders was viewed as a potential candidate to be the No. 1 overall pick. Right now, it appears that Cam Ward has taken over that spot. In fact, some have Sanders falling out of the top 10.

Sanders put together an impressive college career from a statistical standpoint. However, there are some concerns about him and his lack of experience against top-tier opponents.

Despite those concerns, Sanders does have the arm talent to become a legitimate franchise quarterback and star in the NFL.

With that being said, a shocking new prediction has been made for where Sanders might end up in the 2025 draft.

Cam Mellor of College Football Network has released a new mock draft. In that projection, Mellor has Sanders falling outside of the top 10 and being drafted No. 12 overall by Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.

He opened up with his reasoning for Sanders falling to No. 12 and for the Cowboys scooping him up despite giving out a major contract extension to Dak Prescott last season.

“With the 12th overall pick, the Cowboys make a headline-grabbing move by selecting Shedeur Sanders, bringing a Sanders back to Dallas—this time at quarterback,” Mellor wrote. The son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, who once electrified Cowboys fans as a star cornerback, Shedeur offers accuracy, toughness, and natural timing, though his solid arm talent and average athleticism raise some questions.”

“While he can make full-field reads, his tendency to force plays can lead to sacks or errant throws, but the Cowboys are betting on his poise and pedigree to lead their future in a post-Dak Prescott world when that time comes.”

Dallas bringing Sanders onboard would become one of the most talked about situations in the NFL. There would be fan pressure for the young quarterback to play if Prescott struggled.

Speaking of the big statistical numbers that Sanders put up, he had another strong year in 2024. Sanders completed 74 percent of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also chipped in another four touchdowns on the ground.

If this scenario were to become a reality, Sanders could be the face of the future for the Cowboys. He would cause some drama initially within the media but could be exactly what Dallas needs to be a long-term Super Bowl contender.

Only time will tell, but Jones and the Cowboys are a team to watch if Sanders happens to be available when they’re on the clock.
