The Buffalo Bills beat the New York Jets 30-10 to improve to 2-0 on the season. For a brief moment in the game, Josh Allen exited with an injury.
In the first quarter, Allen exited the game after falling forward at the line of scrimmage, landing on his face. He ran off the field, signaling for Mitchell Trubisky to come in. Allen did return to the game in just a couple of plays, but he spoke about what happened.
“It’s tough, because you should go down there to give Mitch a chance to kind of catch his bearings, to be able to come out there,” Allen said, per ESPN’s Aliana Getzenberg. “Obviously, gushing blood. I just wanted to try to get off the field and stop it, and for him to come off the bench like that and no warmup, no nothing, to be ready. I think that’s a true embodiment of the character and the man that he is coming in there and making a play on third down for us. That was a huge drive. It was a huge play. So, shout out Mitch.”

Allen is the reigning NFL MVP, and losing him would be a significant blow to the Bills’ championship aspirations. However, for Trubisky to be able to come in and make a big throw, with no warm-up, shows that the Bills may be in good hands if Allen does miss time for any reason — though it doesn’t appear that the nose injury will be a lingering issue.
The Bills will try to move to 3-0 on the season against the Miami Dolphins on Thursday Night Football this week.
