Texas A&M Defender Leaves in Neck Brace After Scary Hit vs Notre Dame

The Texas A&M Aggies entered Saturday night’s game against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as the No. 16 ranked team in the country. Notre Dame, on the other hand, is ranked No. 8 in the nation.

Both teams are viewed as potential College Football Playoff contenders. However, a win tonight would mean a big step in the right direction for those hopes.

Close to the end of the first half, a scary situation unfolded. Texas A&M safety Bryce Anderson was involved in a tackle and went down motionless.

It didn’t take long for a cart to come out for him and he also had his helmet removed and was placed in a neck brace.

Here is a video of the play for those who didn’t see it happen:

While the play was terrifying and watching Anderson lie on the ground was even more scary, the Aggies’ defender did give a thumbs up sign on his way off of the field.

Coming into the game, Anderson had played a key role for the Texas A&M defense. In the first two games of the season, he had recorded six total tackles.

Last season, he ended up with 24 tackles, an interception, and a defensive touchdown, while in 2023 he recorded 55 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, an interception, and four defended passes.

Hopefully, the injury is not as serious as it appeared to be on the field. Anderson being taken off the field in a neck brace was concerning, but it could have been a precaution. For now, no further details are known about his status.

As far as the game is concerned, the two teams are currently in halftime. The Aggies are currently leading the game by a score of 28-24 in what has been an absolute shootout between two high-caliber football teams.

More details are sure to be made available about Anderson’s status in the near future. Our thoughts and prayers are with him following the scary injury.
