Red Bull Racing Formula One driver Max Verstappen isn’t ruling out a move to Ferrari in the future. Speaking ahead of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, the four-time world champion spoke the possibility of many scenarios playing out in the future.
There has been much speculation about Verstappen’s potential move away from Red Bull in recent months, especially considering a drop in the team’s dominant form. However, the Dutchman has confirmed that he will continue racing for Red Bull. Notably, his contract with the team is set to expire at the end of 2028.
When Verstappen was asked ahead of the Italian GP about a potential move to Ferrari in the future, and for his views on the challenges being faced by Hamilton, the Red Bull driver said:
“They have two drivers contracted for next year, so there is no discussion anyway. Now, is there a chance? Yes, there are a lot of chances in life for any kind of decision.

“Of course, at the moment that is not on the horizon, but who knows? I don’t even know how long I’m driving in Formula 1, so there are still a lot of unknowns for me.”
Hamilton has been facing challenges in his new team, particularly in adapting to his SF-25 F1 car. Speaking about the seven-time world champion’s tough Ferrari debut season thus far, Verstappen said:
“It’s always very difficult to know what is going to happen, right? I cannot look into how he [Hamilton] was operating at Mercedes, how he feels personally, what is going on also in the [Ferrari] team right now. I don’t have any information on that.
“The thing is, he joined a team that already has a very strong driver with Charles [Leclerc], so it’s never going to be easy to immediately go in there and start beating your team-mate who is well integrated, knows the team very well, speaks the language.
“But these cars can be quite complicated at times to fully understand why you’re quick or not, basically.”
While Verstappen’s options remain open for the future, former F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone has warned him not to sign with Ferrari, since that would “be the end of his career.” Newsweek Sports reported his comments:
“If he goes to Ferrari, that would be the end of his career. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.”
However, he then went on to say that Verstappen “can always turn a good team into a winning team.”
