David Pollack Names College Football Team That Should Be ‘Jacked Up’ After Week 1

The first Saturday of a full slate of college football games came and went with some big surprises.

One of them was No. 1 Texas and Arch Manning losing to No. 3 Ohio State, 14-7. Another was No. 4 Clemson falling to No. 9 LSU, 17-10, despite Dabo Swinney’s team having home-field advantage.

It was a battle of two Heisman Trophy candidates at quarterback, but Garrett Nussmeier and LSU got the better of Cade Klubnik’s Clemson team this time around.

On Saturday night, college football analyst David Pollack went live on X with some reactions from Week 1, and he said LSU should be “jacked up” after the huge win.

“LSU was dominant, man. God, I was blown away with LSU. I mean, the Tigers should be jacked up,” Pollack said. “The LSU Tigers should be jacked up for what they saw Week 1 out of their squad.”

Clemson had a 10-3 lead going into halftime, but LSU scored the tying touchdown in the third quarter via a Caden Durham 2-yard run.

Then, Nussmeier threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Trey’Dez Green that ended up being the game-winner.

Klubnik, Clemson’s star QB, went just 19-of-38 for 230 yards with no touchdowns and an interception in a disappointing Week 1 effort.

After the game, Kelly spoke about being able to limit Klubnik, via the Associated Press.

“I think getting him out of the pocket and primarily got him out of rhythm,” Kelly said. “I thought we did that very, very well and we took his running game away. Any quarterback that doesn’t have a running game, it becomes predictable and we had some predictable down the distances because they couldn’t run the football.”

LSU had more passing, rushing and total yards than Clemson, and Kelly’s team came out of the gates with a statement win and a huge one to add to its resume going forward.

LSU plays against Louisiana Tech in Week 2 before a showdown against Florida on September 13 in Baton Rouge.
