Skip Bayless Calls Cowboys to Action Following Latest Trade

With a healthy Dak Prescott and notable roster upgrades, the Dallas Cowboys are eager to get back in the mix this season. Knowing it won’t be an easy task, one analyst called out the organization when it comes to making more improvements.

Heading into the 2025 campaign, the Cowboys find themselves in what could be the toughest division in football. The Philadelphia Eagles are fresh off a title win, the Washington Commanders made it all the way to the conference championship, and the New York Giants have made improvements of their own.

If Dallas wants to be a competitive squad, they’re going to need as much firepower as they can get their hands on. That is why Skip Bayless is urging the Cowboys to make the most of these final weeks before the action officially gets underway.

Skip Bayless takes aim at Cowboys following Eagles’ latest trade

When it comes to the NFC East, the Eagles are by far the Cowboys’ biggest competition. They retained most of their title-winning core and have gotten better. On Sunday, reports emerged that the Eagles pulled off a trade with the Houston Texans for wide receiver John Metchie.

Following this move, Bayless used it as an opportunity to take a shot at the Cowboys. He wants to see them follow suit and make some roster upgrades of their own.

“The rich get richer,” Bayless wrote on X. “Howie Roseman, the NFL‘s best GM, just made another smart trade, adding John Metchie to an explosive receiver corps. Meanwhile, Jonathan Mingo made the only big play of the night last night for the Cowboys – and reportedly tore up his knee. Your turn, Jerry.”

Jonathan Mingo did shine in the Cowboys’ preseason opener, ripping off a 49-yard reception. However, things came to a screeching halt shortly after when he had to exit the game with a knee ailment. It was later revealed that he injured his PCL and could miss multiple weeks.

It is worth noting that the Cowboys did make some upgrades to their offense this offseason. They brought in wide receiver George Pickens in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers and addressed the backfield in free agency. Only time will tell if it will be enough to keep Dallas afloat or if they’ll succumb to a highly competitive NFC East.
