The Los Angeles Dodgers pursue the top free agents every offseason, and this upcoming one will be no different.
As they push for a World Series year after year, the Dodgers are always looking to improve every position. MLB insider Jim Bowden believes Los Angeles is a possible landing spot for star third baseman Alex Bregman in the offseason.

“Bregman, who is making $40 million this year and signed for two more years at that rate, will likely opt out of his contract and seek a longer-team deal,” wrote Bowden. “He missed time this season with a quad injury but has hit .299/.379/.542 in 327 plate appearances. It appears Boston would be his first choice in free agency, but he is an obvious fit with several other contending teams including the Phillies, Yankees, Tigers, Dodgers, Mariners and even the Mets.”
If the Dodgers pursue Bregman, it shows they are looking to upgrade on Max Muncy in the offseason. The 34-year-old infielder started up-and-down this season for the Dodgers but has since found some consistency.
Adding Bregman wouldn’t guarantee the Dodgers to trade or release Muncy, but he would take a lesser role as a bench bat. Bregman’s offense and defense aren’t showing any signs of slowing down.
It will be difficult for the Dodgers to acquire Bregman. As Bowden points out, the Red Sox appear to be his first choice. That doesn’t mean it’s impossible, but Andrew Friedman and Brandon Gomes may have to spend a little extra to pry him away from Boston.
