The update regarding Philadelphia Eagles lineman Landon Dickerson wasn’t all positive, but the team is likely breathing a sigh of relief.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, Dickerson will have surgery to repair his ailment. However, the setback still isn’t severe enough to end his season prematurely. In fact, he just might be ready to roll at the start of the 2025 NFL season.

During the Eagles’ Sunday practice session at the Lincoln Financial Field, Dickerson went down with what was clearly a lower-body injury. At the time, it was unclear whether he was dealing with an Achilles or knee-related setback.

While Dickerson was able to get up walk off the field at first, he couldn’t do it without assistance. By the time he made it off the field, the medical team had the star lineman carted away back to the locker room. As always, the sight of the cart called for some nervous reactions.

Dickerson underwent an MRI on Monday morning. After receiving the results, the team revealed that Dickerson was dealing with what was described as a “meniscus injury.”

As of now, it’s apparent that Dickerson will miss a chunk of time throughout August. As the preseason continues this week, the veteran lineman is likely going to remain out of pads until Week 1 at the earliest. When the Eagles faced the Bengals last week at home, Dickerson was ruled out, along with most of the team’s core players.

At this point, the Eagles seem hopeful for a Week 1 return. Even if Dickerson isn’t back by then, the fact that he could return as early as September is a major positive.

Since joining the Eagles, Dickerson has been a key contributor up front. In 2021, Dickerson was drafted by the Eagles after winning an NCAA National Championship at Alabama.

The Eagles made Dickerson their 37th overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

During his rookie season, Dickerson appeared in 14 games, starting all but one of those matchups. Since then, Dickerson has been a full-time starter for Philadelphia. In three out of his four seasons with the Eagles, Dickerson has earned Pro Bowl honors.

As the Eagles are working on a potential Super Bowl repeat, they’ll need all of the help they can get up front. The offensive line helped the Eagles establish the best run game with Saquon Barkley in 2024.
