The Cleveland Browns are headed for the 2025 season with four quarterbacks and a lot of questions about which quarterback is going to be the starter. Right now, it appears that longtime veteran Joe Flacco is going to be under center, but that is not a guarantee.

Clearly, the Browns have a lot of questions regarding their QB room, and not a lot of answers. The good news is the team also has two first-round picks in 2026, and one of those could be used to take one of the bigger prospects, such as Texas’s Arch Manning.
Manning has become all the rage, but he may or may not remain in college past 2026. The question of Manning being a prospect for the Browns was eventually going to come up.
Browns owner Jimmy Haslam spoke to reporters on Tuesday, and he was asked point-blank if the team plans to go after Arch Manning in 2026. While Haslam could be playing coy, his comments were very direct.

“If you know the Manning family — and I don’t know Arch at all — I’d bet he stays in college two years. I don’t think that’s worth discussing,” Haslam stated.
Not only did Haslam shoot down the idea that the Browns would be aiming to get yet another quarterback in 2026, but he also shut down the idea that Manning would be ready to play in the NFL next season.

More news: Shedeur Sanders Blocked Deion Sanders From Attending Browns Training Camp
Haslam was being as direct as possible, stating the idea of drafting Manning is “not worth discussing.” The comment on the team benefits one person in particular: Shedeur Sanders.
Sanders is one of the four quarterbacks on the Browns roster, and he was taken in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. As it stands, Sanders is going to have a steep climb to land the starting position, but that is not out of the realm of possibility.
Sanders was viewed as a first-round pick, but oddly dropped to the fifth round. With reports indicating that it may have been his character or his father, Deion Sanders, that caused him to drop in the draft, his talent remains.
Sanders has a good chance to continue working hard in training camp, and an even bigger chance to showcase his skills under center. Should he impress with more reps, he might be able to not only land a spot on the 53-man roster, but could leap into the second-string position behind Flacco.
The Browns also have Kenny Pickett, but he suffered an injury that is set to keep him out of action for a good amount of time. This would mean that Sanders and Dillon Gabriel would be vying to land the second-string position.
Even if Sanders gets pushed into the third-string emergency quarterback position, he will remain on the team. Haslam’s comments might also indicate that the Browns will move forward with Gabriel and Sanders, attempting to allow the rookies to build through this season and the next.
The Browns have had major issues regarding their quarterbacks, so it might be time to see what they have currently. Sanders still has a chance to start in 2025, but it will be up to his work ethic to get him there.
