The 2025 NFL season is officially underway for the Pittsburgh Steelers with training camp having begun. It’s the start of what many feel could be a special season for the team and also the start of Aaron Rodgers‘ final year playing in the NFL.
Rodgers has put together a storied career. He will forever be remembered as one of the best quarterbacks in league history.
Now, he’s looking to ride off into the sunset after leading one of the most storied franchises to a championship.

Over the last two years with the New York Jets, Rodgers has dealt with a lot of disappointment and media hate. He tore his Achilles on the first drive of his first season with the Jets. Last season, he bounced back strong.

While the media has said that he is washed up, Rodgers actually had a very good year in New York last season.
During the 2024 campaign, Rodgers completed 63 percent of his pass attempts for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He looked the part of a franchise quarterback who could power a team to a playoff run. Unfortunately, the team as a whole never figured it out.
Entering the 2025 season, one of his teammates on the Steelers has now spoken out very strongly about Rodgers.
Juan Thornhill, one of Pittsburgh’s safeties, did not hold back when talking about Rodgers. He believes that the 41-year-old quarterback still deserves to be in the conversation for being the best signal caller in the NFL.
“They talk about how he’s not a great quarterback, but if you really compare him to some of these guys like Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes, he should be in that conversation. He made a lot of plays,” Thornhill said.

At this point, the Steelers have DK Metcalf as their No. 1 wide receiver. Behind him, there are some question marks about the wide receivers Rodgers will have to work with.
Pittsburgh has Calvin Austin III, Robert Woods, and Roman Wilson as the next three wide receivers on the depth chart. There are still players the front office could bring in, but Rodgers will have both Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith at tight end to target as well.
On the outside looking in, the Steelers should be a serious contender in the AFC. Rodgers is still a superstar and he’ll be on a mission to prove that point by leading the team to a major success story in 2025.
