NFL Scout Makes Massive Malik Nabers Statement

It only took one season for New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers to establish himself as one of the top wideouts in the NFL.

The young veteran’s ranking within the league for top pass-catchers comes from the opinions of anonymous coaches, executives, and scouts. Out of the top 10, Nabers ranked seventh, according to ESPN.

“Nabers has the NFL‘s full attention,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler wrote.

Despite having an unfortunate situation under center in New York, Nabers was one of a very few bright spots within the Giants’ organization last year.

He was dubbed “easily the Giants’ best draft pick of the Brian Daboll-Joe Schoen era.”

Last year, Nabers entered the 2024 NFL Draft after a three-year run at LSU. Over 38 games in the NCAA, Nabers crossed 3,000 receiving yards and scored 21 touchdowns. He scored 14 of those touchdowns during his junior season, which shot him up draft boards.

Nabers fell just outside of the top five in the draft. He landed on the Giants with the sixth-overall pick. New York hoped that Nabers would form a strong connection with the former first-round quarterback, Daniel Jones. While Nabers racked up the yards with Jones on the field, it was only a matter of time before Jones was benched and cut.

Despite the sudden change at the QB position, Nabers still continued to thrive. He left the league impressed.

“Some guys are just different,” an NFC defensive coach told ESPN this week. “You don’t have to watch him long to know that.”

The most shocking part of it all? Nabers was considered to not even be an “elite” route runner yet, according to an NFL scout. With his build and quickness, Nabers figured out how to crack defenses.

“He can go 0 to 60 in three seconds like a Ferrari, but he’s built like a truck,” an NFL personnel evaluator told ESPN regarding Nabers. “And he’s not even an elite route runner yet. Just wait until that happens.”

Nabers was targeted 170 times throughout the 2024 NFL season. He caught 109 of those passes, racking up 1,204 yards. He reached the end zone for seven scores. Considering Nabers produced at that rate with several different quarterbacks, who aren’t starters, imagine what he could do with some stability.

The Giants hope that Russell Wilson can offer stability for this year, while banking on the future of Jaxson Dart, who is primed to be the franchise quarterback of the future.
