Caitlin Clark Fires Back at Lie That Was Told About Her

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark has had a rough second WNBA season thus far. While she was named a captain of the All-Star game and the Fever are still very much in contention, her personal numbers have not been as high as expected.

Clark has missed time due to injury on two separate occasions. She has continued to take a beating and quite a few hits that appeared to be cheap shots as well.

While the season has not gone as expected, Clark has remained positive. There is still plenty of season left for her to get back on track and lead Indiana on a run in the playoffs.

Ahead of the All-Star break, it had been rumored that Clark did not want to take part in the three-point shooting contest. That couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Not only is Clark going to participate in the event, she took some time to speak out about the rumors that were spread about her not wanting to participate in it.

“I know there was a narrative going around that I didn’t want to do that at one point, which I’m not sure who made that up, but that’s false, because I am doing it,” Clark said. “I was just saving my first three-point competition in my own city. Whoever said that, that was a lie.”

Throughout the first half of the season heading into Tuesday night’s game against the Connecticut Sun, Clark had played in 12 games. She has averaged 16.7 points, nine assists, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game, while shooting 37.4 percent from the floor and 28.9 percent from the three-point line.

Obviously, those are not the numbers that Clark was expected to produce. She was widely considered a top-tier WNBA MVP candidate at the beginning of the year.

It may be too early to count her out for the prestigious award, but Clark has a lot of work to do to bounce back and win it.

Regardless of the personal accolades, Clark has just one goal. She wants to lead the Fever to a championship. Entering Tuesday’s game, the team held an 11-10 record.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what Clark and Indiana can do down the stretch of the season. It will also be intriguing to see if she can pull off a win in the three-point contest during the All-Star break.
