PSG vs. Real Madrid Odds, Best Bets: European Giants Meet In Club WC Semis

We’re just one game away from the final of what’s been an entertaining FIFA Club World Cup.

Today’s semifinal between 2025 Champions League winner Paris St. Germain and 2024 winner Real Madrid — which will determine who Chelsea will face in the Club World Cup Final on Sunday — has a little bit of everything for soccer fans.

From Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe’s showdown with his former team to the rematch of Real Madrid’s memorable comeback win over PSG in the 2022 Champions League quarterfinals, there’s no shortage of intriguing storylines in this mtach.

Given PSG’s form over the last few months, their status as the betting favorites today makes sense. Still, Real Madrid are tempting underdogs thanks to their remarkable recent track record in knockout competition. Los Blancos, of course, have won the UCL six times in the last 13 seasons, including in ’22 and ’24.

PSG vs. Real Madrid Betting Analysis

How They Got Here

Both teams have been dominant in this competition. Real Madrid opened group play with a disappointing draw vs. Al-Hilal, but it dominated Pachuca and RB Salzburg to close out group play.

RM also (mostly) controlled their matches vs. Juventus in the round of 16 and Borussia Dortmund in the quarterfinals (though BVB scored twice in stoppage time to create some late drama).

PSG’s dominance against all foes over the last few months was disrupted by a shocking loss in group play to Botafogo, but the Parisians handled Atletico Madrid and the Seattle Sounders by a combined score of 6-0. Manager Luis Enrique’s side then embarrassed Inter Miami 4-0 in the round of 16 and survived two late red cards vs. Bayern Munich to win that quarterfinal battle 2-0.

PSG vs. Real Madrid Injury, Suspension, Lineup News:

Both teams will be missing key pieces along their back lines today.

For PSG, the red cards issued to starting center back Willian Pacho and backup defender Lucas Hernandez in the Bayern match will force 21-year-old Lucas Beraldo to step up as the starting center back alongside Marquinhos.

Real Madrid has a similar issue: One of its own starting center backs, recent signee Dean Huijsen, is also out today after getting a red card in the quarterfinals. Real Madrid Manager Xabi Alonso is expected to replace Huijsen in the starting lineup with 22-year-old Raul Asencio.

Enrique and Alonso both have similar dilemmas regarding their best attacking pieces. Ousmane Dembele for PSG and Mbappe for Real Madrid have been used as subs in this tournament as they recover from injuries, but both are expected to be fit to start today.

Dembele’s insertion into PSG’s front three would likely bump Desire Doue to the right and Bradley Barcola to the bench as a sub.

It’s a trickier situation for Alonso.

If he starts Mbappe, he has to decide between sitting Gonzalo Garcia — who leads the entire Club World Cup with four goals — or the club’s top offensive threat prior to Mbappe’s arrival: Vinicius.

Could Alonso entertain starting Vinicius, Gonzalo and Mbappe? That is unlikely, as it would require him to bench one of midfielders Arda Guler, Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde or Jude Bellingham.

PSG vs. Real Madrid Prediction, Best Bets

While there’s a real possibility of a dropoff for PSG from Pacho to Beraldo, the biggest strength for Enrique’s squad over the last few months has arguably been its lack of weaknesses. I expect PSG to once again control the middle of the pitch and create plenty of scoring opportunities, especially if Dembele is 100 percent.

So, let’s go with the lights-out, versatile midfield trio of Joao Neves, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz and the depth of this PSG roster (nine players have scored a goal in the Club World Cup, and six have recorded at least one assist) to make the difference in a close match.

One last note before our best bets here: Real Madrid (obviously) have the firepower to pull the slight upset.

This squad does have some major question marks, though, including how it will line up and — on a related note — how recently hired manager Alonso will fare in his chess match with Enrique, who is one of the top coaches in the sport right now.

The two bets I like best today are PSG on the moneyline and PSG to score over 1.5 goals.

(In theory, “Both Teams To Score — Yes” sounded good. But BTTS Yes is priced at shorter than -200 odds across the board, so let’s pass on that).

  • Three-way moneyline: PSG (+135 at DK, bet365) — 1 unit
  • PSG Team Total: Over 1.5 Goals (-115 at FD) — 1 unit
