The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to bounce back from a tough 2025 season, which saw them missing the playoffs for the first time in the Patrick Mahomes era. It hurt. And it wasn’t normal for the Chiefs to do so badly.
But, it happens, and it doesn’t make this franchise any less enjoyable to watch.
In a feature for USA Today published on Friday, June 12, Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz rattles off every NFL team from most to least entertaining. Now, this is subjective, of course. He notes that “there’s no universal standard for football aesthetics.”

“While transactions have mostly slowed to a trickle, the period before training camps doesn’t tend to lend a lot of insight into the state of teams,” he adds. “Prior to practices starting in a more formal summer setting, it can be difficult to make substantive assertions about the upcoming campaign. But summer is meant to be a time of fun, so let’s assess each franchise on how amusing each team might be in the fall.”
He names the Chiefs the No. 6 most entertaining team to watch.
“Any sense of Chiefs fatigue has likely dissipated in the aftermath of last season’s 6-11 crash-landing,” he says in the piece. “Now, how Kansas City charts a course back to the summit is sure to be one of the season’s most meaningful story lines. Patrick Mahomes’ encouraging trajectory in his recovery from multiple ligament tears in his knee should ensure no wasted time in that effort.”
He adds: “While the return of Eric Bieniemy reflects an element of doubling down on what’s worked in the past, there are new wrinkles as well, with Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker III addressing the woeful run game and offensive imbalance that long weighed down the attack.”

While Mahomes and Travis Kelce will always get viewership, the true football fans will also be excited to see how Walker fits the Chiefs’ offensive scheme. It should make for entertaining football.
