Caitlin Clark Explains Taylor Swift-Themed Nikes She Wore in Fever Win

Caitlin Clark turned heads during her time on the court for the Indiana Fever, rocking a colorful and eye-catching pair of Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Eras Tour” sneakers.

According to Clark, she “saved the best ones for last” and debuted them during Thursday night’s Fever home game against the Chicago Sky. Massively popular singer Taylor Swift served as the inspiration for the theme, which Clark explained during her postgame remarks.

“Obviously, you guys know I’m a big fan of Taylor, and the Eras Tour was the best concert tour of all-time,” Clark told reporters. “That’s why I like the thought behind these and I think they’re so fun.”

Swift recently attended Game 4 of the NBA Finals and was among the thousands of individuals who witnessed the New York Knicks come back from down 29 points to defeat the Spurs, 107-106, at Madison Square Garden.

The singer famously made a historic amount of money with the “Eras Tour” and helped bring revenue to the host cities of the venues where she performed.

And according to Clark, her Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Eras Tour” sneakers were also massively popular after last night’s Fever game.

“I’ve never had so many people ask me for my shoes after the game today, like literally every kid was screaming for them, and I felt bad. I’m like, ‘Honestly? No, sorry,'” she said about turning people’s requests down.

“I felt bad … I thought they looked pretty good out there,” Clark said after the Fever win.

The shoes, also from a lineup bearing the name of the late, great Kobe Bryant, feature pastel yellow and pink along with some darker trim areas and, of course, the iconic Nike swoosh.

The concept is an extremely savvy theme with the popularity of Swift, Clark, and Kobe. It will likely lead to plenty of people searching for these wherever they might find them to buy at outrageous prices.

Swift’s historic “Eras Tour” and the Nikes seemingly inspired a historic performance from Clark, who, along with her Fever teammate, Aliyah Boston, became the first duo in WNBA history to record 30-point double-doubles in a game.

Clark had 32 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds, hitting 8 of 18 field goals and 15 of 15 free throws. Boston had a team-leading 34 points on 13 of 26 shooting, and racked up 12 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal.

Most importantly, the Fever picked up a hard-fought win, 114-106 in overtime. They’re now 7-5 overall and remain third in the Eastern Conference, but sixth in the highly competitive overall WNBA standings.

Nonetheless, Clark stepped up when it was necessary. She’s received lots of criticism about not doing more to lead the Fever, especially now that she’s back healthy. Sometimes, wearing the right stylish kicks is all it takes to get inspired, so she might need to keep those ready for future matchups.
