It was a huge night in the career of Victor Wembanyama.
Down 2-0 in his first NBA Finals, his back along with the San Antonio Spurs‘ was firmly against the wall at Madison Square Garden. It was one of the hottest tickets in NBA history, and with almost every celebrity known to man in the building on Monday night, the pressure was on.
What did the 7-foot-4 French generational giant do?
He put up 32 points on 11-for-18 shooting to spearhead his team to life in the series, officially turning the NBA Finals into a competitive affair with Game 4 on Wednesday.
Following the game, Wembanyama had his usual duties of giving a post-game interview on the court, but it didn’t end as it generally does for the Spurs’ ace player.

While discussing the game, San Antonio guard De’Aaron Fox, who had the biggest shot of the game in the dying seconds, pulled his much bigger compatriot away from the interview.
Why?
The youngsters, including 22-year-old Wembanyama, did need to get their rest.
“It’s midnight, man,” Fox said, interrupting the broadcast interview and promptly ending it by taking the big man by the warm. “Let’s go!”
Tonight’s game is what Wembanyama and the Spurs needed after two disappointing opening games at home, where the French center made a gigantic blunder in Game 2 to put his team in a hole heading into New York.
Although they have a day off tomorrow, it’s not time for talk for the Spurs and Wembanyama. If they win Game 4, what once looked like a lost series will get flipped on its head.
