Giving her flowers to SZA, Rodrigo shared that it felt like a win since the “Kill Bill” hitmaker is one of the finest of this generation.

“I saw SZA at the Grammys and she said she studied my songs to compose hers,” shared Rodrigo. “I thought it was the greatest compliment of all, because she’s one of the greatest living songwriters.”

This is, however, not the only time that SZA praised the “deja vu” hitmaker. When Rodrigo announced her latest album back in April, the “SOS” singer hyped the cover art, saying, ““Insane cover 🔥🔥🔥.”

Following Rodrigo’s latest admission, fans took to the social media to share their two cents on the healthy exchange between the two stars.

One supporter hyped, “I NEED A COLLAB NOW OMG 😭😭.”

“If SZA’s the professor, Olivia just got an A+ in pop‑ology,” added someone else, while another reflected, “Songwriters studying each other’s work is the ultimate flex.”

A netizen chimed in, “For real not gonna lie, if SZA told me she studies my songs, I’d never stop talking about it 😭🎶.”

“I love how good songwriters are not bitter towards each other,” commented someone else.

However, a few were apprehensive of the compliment too, as they noted, “Love Olivia but knowing sza she was probably making that up on the spot.”

Elsewhere, Rodrigo gushed about her upcoming album, sharing that love is an important part of the album.

“I really wanted to capture romantic joy and pleasure for the first time, because my last two albums were very heartbroken and really angsty,” the three-time Grammy winner noted.

However, she confirmed it’s not only love that gets the center stage, as suggested by the album’s title.

“It’s a love story that falls apart,” Rodrigo noted, before adding, “A time capsule of a relationship in a few years of my life.”
